Common side effects observed while medicating with Spironolactone are dizziness, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, upset stomach, lightheadedness, diarrhea or headache may occur. Inform your doctor if these conditions persist or get worse. There are some serious side effects which must be informed to the doctor right away if observed such as increased thirst, signs of kidney problems (change in the amount of urine), mental/mood changes, unusual fatigue/weakness, muscle spasm, menstrual period changes, breast pain/enlargement (gynecomastia) in men, sexual function problems, signs of infection (fever, persistent sore throat), severe stomach/abdominal pain, persistent nausea/vomiting, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, dark urine, yellowing of the eyes/skin, easy bruising/bleeding, slow/irregular heartbeat, muscle weakness etc. There are also some severe allergic reactions involved with these medications which require immediate medical attention if observed such as rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), trouble breathing, severe dizziness etc.
